Top ad exec joins new property glossy
The advertising director of one of South Africa`s fastest growing magazine titles has joined a soon-to-be launched new glossy magazine, The Property Magazine.
Josephine Swainbank spent the past two years at South Africa`s number one mens' magazine, FHM, growing circulation by 20% to 104 000, and significantly increasing advertising revenue. She joins The Property Magazine as advertising manager from March 04.
Set to launch in April, The Property Magazine is the brainchild of British entrepreneur Tony Vaughan. He has formed a new publishing company called Media Nova which will use an innovative business model that challenges existing magazine distribution and marketing. "In addition to Josephine on the advertising side," says Vaughan, "we have appointed Glenda Nevill as editor, formerly of the Sunday Times (SA and London) and previously editor of The Big Issue as well as nine other hand picked staffers from House and Leisure, World TV Report, Media 24 & New Media."
The Property Magazine is a new, large format glossy, which aims to showcase SA property and lifestyle. It will have a Cape Town bias when it launches in April and an initial print run of 50 000. Johannesburg and Durban issues are scheduled to launch later.
The Property Magazine will be freely distributed to 45 000 A and B income homes in the Western Cape and to airline lounges, hotels, golf clubs, South African Embassies and Consulates worldwide and an initial 5,000 copies will be for sale nationally at leading newsstands including CNA for R16.95.
