Equity deal adds academic muscle to TowerStone
In January 2019, TowerStone signed a 52% equity deal with Professor John Volmink and Professor Elias Links and in so doing, added a wealth of academic and adult education experience and knowledge to the Institute's Board. Volmink is best known for his involvement in curriculum reform in post-apartheid South Africa and for his roles as Interim Vice-Chancellor of the Durban University of Technology (DUT) and as Acting Vice-Chancellor at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) in 2017. Links brings decades of international experience to the company. With a PhD from the State University of New York, he served on the Tax Restructuring Commission, which led to his appointment to the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund. He has also served as a Financial Diplomat, Chief Director in treasury, President Mandela's ambassador to the European Union as well as ambassador to Belgium and Luxembourg.
