'Balls for Brovember' Action Football Tournament raises money for cancer

The first 'Balls for Brovember' Action Football Tournament will take place on 29 November 2014 at Discovery Soccer Park in Johannesburg to raise funds as part of November's proverbial prostate and testicular cancer drive.

Creating awareness

Sponsored by Sorbet Man, the event is appealing to all Gauteng lads, dads, footie enthusiasts, corporates and celebrities to muster a team of eight male football players for a fun day out on the field, in support of prostate cancer awareness. Teams are required to secure their entry with a once off entry fee of R1,500 per team, all of which will be donated to the More Balls Than Most testicular cancer charity foundation (MBTM) - www.mbtm.co.za.

"I know the importance of early detection," says Mark Pilgrim, cancer survivor and Ambassador of More Balls than Most Cancer Foundation (MBTM). "One sometimes only realises the importance after you have been touched. Men tend to be proud and sometimes ignorant, but the fact is, ignorance can cost you your life," says Pilgrim.

"Initiatives like this help create awareness and much needed funds to causes such as MBTM, to drive the message that 'early detection saves lives," ends Pilgrim.

Celebrity support

Other celebrity supporters that will be kicking it for Cancer with Sorbet Man in November include Sivngesi, Timisho Masha, Mark Fish and Gordon Gilbert.

"We are encouraging players to bring along their friends and family for spectator support," says Jade Kirkel, Marketing Manager of Sorbet Group. "There will be loads of giveaways, food & refreshment stalls and the best part of all is that one lucky player from the winning team will win a return trip for two to New York City."
