Learners urged to nominate a teacher

The Woolworths Making the Difference Educational Programme, in conjunction with MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet, invites schools to join in celebrating World Teachers' Day on 5 October 2013 by encouraging learners from primary and high schools to participate in "The teacher who made the difference" competition.
Learners urged to nominate a teacher

Communities worldwide are every year encouraged by the United Nations to celebrate World Teachers' Day on 5 October and acknowledge the important role teachers play in society. This year, Woolworths is celebrating the fourth year of this competition. The aim of the competition is to encourage learners to show their appreciation by nominating a teacher who made a difference - someone who has positively impacted their young lives.

Great prizes

To enter, learners must choose a teacher who has made a difference in their lives, the school or greater community, and motivate why they think their teacher should be honoured. Learners must then write a motivation of no more than 200 words. The motivation may include photographs or colourful drawings featuring their favourite teacher. The winning entrant will receive a R2 000 Woolworths gift card, the winning school will receive R5 000 cash, and the teacher who made the difference will win a total prize of R10 000, which includes a laptop and a Woolworths giftcard.

Entries can be dropped into entry boxes at schools or submitted via email az.oc.shtrowloow@dtm, fax: +27 (0)21 407 2563, or can be posted to Amanda Mhluzi, Woolworths Head Office, Floor 4a, 93 Longmarket Street, Cape Town.

The competition will close on 13 September 2013, and winners will be notified on 1 October and announced publicly on 5 October 2013. Schools and learners can direct their queries and questions to Amanda Mhluzi on (021) 407 2307 or email az.oc.shtrowloow@izulhmadnama.
