Hijackers try to sell French woman's body

The Somali hijackers who let a French woman, Marie Dedieu die after refusing her medication are now trying to sell her body according to France's Defence Minister, Gerard Longuet.

News24 reports that Longuet told i-Tele TV that the hijackers had tried to sell her body to the French authorities. He said that this shows the kind of people they are, "people who only deserve complete contempt," he said in an angry outburst.

Dedieu was suffering from cancer, was wheel-chair bound and probably died of blood poisoning because she was refused her daily medication. The French authorities had previously said they had tried to pass Dedieu's medication on to her Somali captors on four occasions but they had refused to take it to her.

She is the fourth French national to die at the hands of the Somali hijackers in the past 18 months. There are still eight French hostages being held overseas. Three aid workers are being held in Yemen while a member of France's security forces is being held in Somalia.
