Shado Twala joins Casual Day project team

SA's Got Talent judge Shado Twala is joining the ranks of the Casual Day project team in challenging South Africans to make every day Mandela Day by raising funds for the disabled. The team is calling on South Africans to celebrate Mandela Day on 18 July 2013 by raising enough funds for 67 Casual Day stickers in 67 minutes.

The over-arching objective of Mandela Day is to inspire individuals to take action to help change the world for the better - this is what Casual Day beneficiary organisations will be doing on Friday, 6 September 2013, but it is never too early to start planning to dress up in the 2013 theme, which is GO BIG!

    Empowerment as a common goal

"Mandela Day and Casual Day have this in common: both projects aim to empower communities everywhere. Casual Day seeks to be instrumental in seeing persons with disabilities being included fully in society as interdependent contributors to a better society," says Casual Day project leader Celeste Vinassa.

"We thank Shado Twala for coming on board as a Casual Day ambassador," she adds. "Shado will join us as we take action, inspire change, make every day a Mandela Day. This is the call to action of Mandela Day and individuals and organisations are free to participate in Mandela Day as they wish." Says Shado Twala: "We are asking people to make a special effort to donate their R10 for a Casual Day sticker in honour of Nelson Mandela. Casual Day is a way for all South Africans to make a contribution to the lives of persons with disabilities and for organisations giving services to persons with disabilities to empower themselves to raise funds."

Casual Day is owned by the National Council of Persons with Physical Disabilities and run in partnership with its national beneficiaries, SA Federation for Mental Health, Deaf Federation SA, SA National Council for the Blind, Epilepsy SA and Disabled People SA, South African Disability Alliance, Autism South Africa, Down's Syndrome South Africa, The National Association for Persons with Cerebral Palsy, the South African National Deaf Association, the National Institute for the Deaf, QuadPara Association of South Africa and Alzheimer's South Africa.
