Gijima to showcase capabilities at Microsoft roadshow

Gijima, a JSE-listed IT company and Microsoft partner, is part of the Microsoft Shift into Top Gear roadshow that will feature the official launch of Microsoft Office 2013 and Office 365 to the corporate, small/medium enterprise (SME), and academic markets.

As a Microsoft partner, Gijima will be showcasing its capabilities in not only supporting Microsoft technologies, but also in how it can develop customised Microsoft solutions in assisting companies to service their back-office environments and desktops.

"This roadshow provides the Gijima Microsoft Services division with a platform to showcase how it can work with customers to transform their Office environments with the latest technology innovation," said Leonard Rawbone, Microsoft business executive of Gijima.

Strategic guidance on a migration path

Given the fact that many companies, SMEs and universities in South Africa still run on earlier versions of Microsoft Windows and Office, Gijima feels that this is an ideal opportunity to provide strategic guidance on a migration path that ensures users are as productive and efficient as possible.

"The new Office suites are not the typical upgrades, but also enable companies to transform the way that people work by leveraging the latest developments in cloud computing and, given the increase in smartphone and tablet usage, mobility," said Wayne Nelson, business lead for information worker and application development of Gijima.

As part of the Microsoft Office roadshow, Gijima developed an enterprise solution showcase that demonstrates the challenges that organisations face and how the Microsoft Office product suites enable a true office-less working environment. The showcase covers multiparty audio/video communication and collaboration via the Microsoft Lync and SharePoint products with integration to Office Web Apps that simulate a real "work from anywhere" mobile capability. The solution showcase storyline incorporates the creation of a Board Pack with the final step utilising the Gijima Windows 8 BoardView application, whilst highlighting the latest features in Office 2013.
