Metair creates 1000 jobs

Metair Investments says that it has managed to resurrect about a thousand jobs after it had to retrench about 3500 workers as a result of the global financial crisis according to a report published in Business Report.

Theo Loock, managing director of the company says that the new jobs created were across a number of the group's businesses and conceded that part of the job losses were the result of the restructuring of the plastics businesses that are run by the company.

Business Report says that Loock is seeking to generate more than 50% of its earnings from the non-automotive and after-market sectors. He says the after-market is a good buffer against fluctuations when the new vehicles sales levels are falling.
