Best music talent in action at Westgate

The best musical talent in the west will be chosen during the MusicGate finals at Westgate Super Regional Shopping Centre in Roodepoort, Gauteng on Saturday, 14 April. Headlined by renowned South African acts such as Wonderboom, Loyiso Bala and Nova Rise, the finals will also showcase ten exciting upcoming artists from diverse musical backgrounds.

In the build up to the finals, three live preliminary rounds were held at Westgate with three finalists chosen from each round. A tenth finalist, a wild card entry, has been selected from the entry videos with the most 'likes' on the MusicGate Facebook page.

Winner will record a music video

Representing the new fresh emerging Hip Hop/Rap/Kwaito category are Lyrical Swagg, Phat Skillz and Wulf Gang. In the Solo/Pop/Acoustic category we have Santo Nagel, Shanè Fraenkel and Keo. The three Rock and Alternative Bands in action comprise Lane Evermore, My Infinate Affinity and Apex EXP, culminating with a young solo singer by the name of JD van der Merwe as the wildcard entry - after receiving an impressive 510 'likes' on the MusicGate Facebook page.

One of these artists will take top honours at the finals where, courtesy of Enso Entertainment, the winner gets to propel their musical ambitions forward by recording a song and shooting a music video. In addition to this, the winner will receive a sound hamper sponsored by Wild & Marr.

Catering for all ages the event starts at 14:00 and ends at 18:00. Tickets cost R50 and can be purchased at Westgate's centre management office as well as at the venue on 14 April.
