Music4Masks to raise funds for AfricaMasks4All with 8-hour online music festival

Music4Masks will be holding an eight-hour online music festival that will commence at 12pm on 28 June 2020. The festival will be streamed live on Youtube and Facebook.

This online music festival will feature established and up-and-coming local acts in South Africa as well as the rest of the African continent. The event will run for eight hours and feature non-stop music and entertainment, with proceeds going towards the #AfricaMasks4All campaign.

As a non-profit company, AfricaMasks4All is raising funds to help make and distribute cloth masks to people who cannot afford one. With a very ambitious target of one million cloth masks, the NPC is looking at innovative ways to raise money. As a result, several fundraisers are in the pipeline, with the first big drive being the #Music4Masks event.

Says AfricaMasks4All director Grant De Sousa:

Since the start of the Covid-19 outbreak in South Africa and the lockdown, there have been several very cool streams, but few of this duration and diversity. The artists are going all out to make this a memorable event. While our main ambition is to raise funds for AfricaMasks4All, as an NPC, we want to be able to also give people a nice distraction while supporting a good cause.
The lineup includes the talents of Toya Delazy, Van Coke Kartel, Wanlov the Kubolor, Josh Middleton, Desmond and the Tutus, Batuk, Espacio Dios, The Hellcats, Jacques Moolman, Nick Rush & Brent Harris, Jac Thomas, James Deacon, Tatum, Luh’ra, Manu Grace and Adelle Nqeto.

De Sousa adds: “We’re very excited by our roster and the calibre of artists that have come forward to give their time and talents so generously. We have immense gratitude to all the artists that jumped on board to make this happen, our fantastic host Paul Snodgrass as well as our venue sponsor.”

To join South Africa’s biggest online music event, visit the live event on Facebook or Youtube at noon on Sunday, 28 June or set your reminder.
