West Rand gets a Protea Hotel

Following the recent announcement of Protea Hotels' plans to dramatically expand its hotel footprint, CEO Arthur Gillis announced that, as of November 2011, the company will operate an existing hotel in Roodepoort previously branded as the Holiday Inn Express Roodepoort. This hotel will be rebranded and named Protea Hotel Roodepoort.

The 79-room hotel on Johannesburg's West Rand is located just off the N1 highway 20 minutes from Lanseria Airport and close to major business parks and head offices. While it's in the heart of the city, the new Protea Hotel Roodepoort is positioned overlooking a canal with views of the CBD skyline to the east and the Magaliesberg to the west. The hotel is situated in a mixed use precinct consisting of corporate offices, a Virgin Active gym and an assortment of restaurants. This provides guests with a range of dining options all within walking distance of the hotel in a safe and secure environment.

Variety of facilities

The hotel rooms offer flat screen televisions with a selection of satellite channels, electronic in-room safes, work stations, hair dryers and well-appointed bathrooms. The hotel is geared around the business traveller with facilities and services such complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi throughout the hotel and a conference room which can seat up to 40 delegates. Breakfast is served seven days a week, and the hotel's bar is open from 4pm to 11pm daily.

The Protea Hotel Roodepoort is also the ideal location from which to sight-see in the area. The Sterkfontein Caves are a mere 18km away, and the Cradle of Humankind just over 20km. Other attractions in the vicinity include the Randpark Golf Course, the Coca Cola Dome and the FNB Stadium making this hotel perfect for travellers attending exhibitions, shows or concerts at these venues.
