Africa's first mega music festival launched

RockStar4000 recently launched the TribeOne: Dinokeng Festival in partnership with Sony Music Entertainment Africa and the City of Tshwane, in the historic mining town of Cullinan. The three-day music festival will be the first of its kind on the African continent and will be the continent's debut on the global music-festival circuit, boasting a unique multi-day, multi-stage musical extravaganza yet to be experienced on African soil.

The inaugural TribeOne: Dinokeng Music Festival will take place on 26, 27 and 28 September 2014 (during Heritage Month and weekend) and will be the centrepiece of the multiple celebrations and initiatives that the City of Tshwane has set in motion to celebrate South Africa's heritage. As the festival's inaugural year in 2014 coincides with South Africa's 20 years of democracy, the City of Tshwane will also use this world-class music festival as the platform to celebrate this milestone in South Africa.

TribeOne: Dinokeng will boast an electrifying mix of music genres across three main stages, with over 80 artists performing live on the Thunder Valley and Diamond Fields stages, and more than 80 DJs playing live sets in the multiple Dance Village domes.

Official staged busking points

In addition to the main stages, there will be more than 50 official staged busking points per day for emerging and unsigned talent, creating a platform for up to 150 unsigned artists. The festival aims to attract more than 100 000 music enthusiasts from around the globe.

The festival is set to attract the best of contemporary music talent from across South Africa and the pan-African continent, as well as other prominent names from around the world with the primary focus on contemporary, mainstream music genres, such as hip hop, R&B, rap, pop, rock, Afrobeat, EDM, house, folk and adult contemporary split across three main stages.

A unique characteristic of TribeOne: Dinokeng is that it will leverage music entertainment to generate revenue, skills transfer, jobs and infrastructure upliftment for the town and the surrounding communities. Through a multiplicity of skills development, job creation, revenue-generating and marketing initiatives, the festival aligns with several of the City of Tshwane's key objectives and is designed to fuel a much-needed economic boost to the town of Cullinan.
