Tourism sector's #LiftingOthers campaign celebrates captains of industry, community builders

South Africa's tourism sector may be grappling with the biggest challenge in its modern existence, but there's still opportunity to celebrate those who have helped others on their journey to success, the 'Superlifters' among us.

Launched by the South Africa is Travel Ready Collective, the #LiftingOthers campaign has sought nominations in the tourism sector for 'Superlifters' who have given their industry peers a lift up on their journey, not only in times of Covid, but beyond.

As part of the campaign, some 21 Superlifters in tourism were nominated and profiled, from captains of industry to community builders. These individuals have gone above and beyond, lending a helping hand to their industry friends and colleagues, to inspire and motivate when we’ve needed it most.

Wrapping the final interview, Danielle Taute, marketing executive at Big Ambitions, a member of the South Africa is Travel Ready Collective, said the campaign has shone the spotlight on a gratitude mindset despite the challenging environment the Tourism sector continues to face in a Covid world.

"At this difficult time, it’s so important for our tourism sector to stand with each other as a strong and supportive community. Every interview and nomination stood out on its own. But one thing that was clear in all of them, was the appreciation, support and love for our tourism, travel and hospitality industries."

The #LiftingOthers campaign comprised video interviews which can be viewed on South Africa is Travel Ready's YouTube channel, as well as blogs capturing how ‘Superlifters’ have made a difference in the lives of others, which can be viewed here.

In closing, Danielle shares a beautiful sentiment on the spirit of the #LiftingOthers campaign: "There isn’t time to see each other as competition. We are all in a muddle, we are all affected, and the only way to recover is to support, share and lift each other up."
