Premier Senzo Mchunu launches soya bean production partnership

Premier Hon. Senzo Mchunu together with the KZN MEC for Agriculture and Rural Development Cyril Xaba, cordially invite members of the media to come and witness this ground-breaking occasion at the Highlands Sports Field in Umzimkhulu on the 5 of November 2015.

The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development in KwaZulu-Natal together with the Masisizane Fund, a CSI project under Old Mutual, have crafted a Memorandum of Understanding on 50:50 basis to embark on the development of Soya bean planting in the area of Umzimkhulu, Harry Gwala District.

KZNDARD and the Masisizane Fund have projected a total investment of about R26 million for a total area of about 1,500ha to be put under production in the area of Umzimkhulu.

The launch will subsequently be followed by school visits to handover farming implements and an official handover of tractors, vouchers for seeds and a cheque for running costs to Communal Estates in Umzimkhulu.
