Nederburg Auction hosts Chenin Blanc Association debut

"Chenin Blanc in South Africa has extensive depth in terms of vineyards, terroir diversity and winemaking expertise. The grape's exceptional versatility and the excellent selection of fruit available, due to the Cape Winelands' wide terroir, provide for great variety of style. Winemaking techniques depend on the style of wine desired. We honestly believe Chenin Blanc is a fantastic driver, probably the most effective for our industry'.

A special selection of six Chenin Blancs, rated five stars by Platter's SA Wine Guide, will come under the hammer as part of the 2012 Nederburg Auction that takes place on 29 September 2012. The proceeds from this snapshot of South Africa's top Chenins, most of them produced from older vines, will go to the Chenin Blanc Association to promote the planting and production of high quality Chenin Blanc.

Nederburg Auction Manager Dalene Steyn says, "We're really happy to welcome such a sterling line-up of Chenin vintages to the auction platform. The collection reflects a group of interesting and varied wines with strong credentials."
