To whom it may concern:

I am an enthusiastic language practitioner who relentlessly strives to acquire more knowledge and new skills. I take much pride in my work, I am a fast learner and my sense of commitment pushes me to always meet deadlines.

Tinkering with words is what I was made for - it makes my blood surge, and my fingers tingle with delight! I am currently employed as a full-time editor, but this position also includes proofreading, translation and writing. Working in this capacity has trained me to function well under pressure; edit, proofread and translate quickly and accurately; manage projects and events competently; as well as think creatively. I have five years' editing experience and it has been an adventurous and joyous journey.

I have a bachelor's degree in linguistics, and recently completed my master's in sociolinguistics. I thoroughly enjoyed the postgraduate research and would love to tackle a doctorate in the future. Learning, learning and learning is what I'm all about. I am a down-to-earth, passionate, professional and driven woman with an unlimited interest in people - qualities that not only enable me to work well in a team but also on my own.

After reviewing the job description for this vacancy, I feel I am a good fit for the position. Because the proof is in the pudding, I would greatly appreciate an opportunity to write an editing test and/or meet up for an interview. Although I currently reside in Pretoria, I am moving to Cape Town next month. Please rest assured that this will not hinder the interview process as I am willing to fly down upon request.
