The clues took teams to iconic places in Cape Town, from Rhodes Memorial in Newlands, to Noble Square in the V&A Waterfront. Teams also had to complete some fundraising tasks along the way, including buying and selling an item for double and busking for change on the strip in Camps Bay.
"What an awesome day for a brilliant cause," enthused Morne Fourie, MD of 34 Johannesburg, who had his team doing what they do best - selling beer for double at Market on the Wharf in the V&A Waterfront!
"We are delighted at the outcome of this event," says Carolynne Stelling, Executive Director of Bright Start. "Not only were funds raised towards educating the seven new children joining our programme next year, but the participants clearly had a fantastic time. The feedback has been overwhelming! We're hugely grateful for 34's input and involvement which went far beyond what we could ever have hoped for. It is with the support of our partners like 34, that Bright Start can make a significant difference to the lives of the children and families on our programme, contributing positively to the transformation of our country."
Bright Start operates out of Hout Bay and provides educational support to underprivileged children from Hangberg and Imizamo Yethu. The programme places children in quality schools and provides comprehensive educational and extra-murial support, including workshops for parents. 34 have been involved with Bright Start since 2009 and have supported a number of initiatives through the years.
"And as a company that is all about its people, we believe our country's diverse challenges can be solved by one key ingredient: a functioning world-class education system," says Andy Sutcliffe, CEO of 34. "This is why we at 34 have adopted Bright Start as our main NPO. Put simply, Bright Start helps kids from poor communities get a real chance at a brighter future by placing and paying for kids to go to quality schools and supporting them all the way up to Grade 12."
With the first Amazing Race a roaring success, Bright Start hope to make this event a regular on Cape Town's corporate social calendar.
