The Foundation is delighted to announce its recent partnership and invaluable support from Jockey South Africa. According to Thandi Mabhida, Founder of Siphilisiwe Foundation, this ongoing collaboration since 2021 has had a remarkable impact on the non-profit organisation, enabling them to bring dignity and transform the lives of the communities they serve in KwaZulu-Natal.
"We are deeply grateful for the opportunities and support that Jockey has provided us since 2021 and in recent times. Their involvement has had an immense impact on our organisation, playing a significant role in empowering individuals and the communities we work with," explained Mabhida.
The sewing machines and fabric will play a pivotal role in establishing a skills hub scheduled to open in June 2023. These machines will be utilised to train community members in various skills, including sewing and bricklaying. Furthermore, a portion of the machines will be distributed to organisations such as Specific Creations, a Siphilisiwe Foundation incubation programme designed to teach women how to sew and establish their own sewing businesses.
Recognising the importance of providing additional materials required to create end-products using the donated machines, Jockey also contributed fabric off-cuts to assist these women in creating cushions and ironing board covers. This gesture not only promotes sustainability but also enhances the participants' creativity and entrepreneurial spirit.
Bruce McMurray, Managing Director of Jockey South Africa, expressed his thoughts on the partnership, stating, "Jockey is proud to support the mission of the Siphilisiwe Foundation and be a part of the inspiring work carried out by this organisation. We firmly believe in the power of education and skills development to uplift individuals and communities. Through this collaboration, we aim to empower even more individuals to pursue their dreams and create a positive impact on society."
Looking towards the future, the Siphilisiwe Foundation is committed to continuing this fruitful collaboration with Jockey, creating additional opportunities for personal growth and community development.
