Job description

A Lecturer and Module Owner at TSIBA Business School with 5 or more years of experience is responsible for delivering lectures, developing module and syllabus content, and assessing student performance. The role includes engaging in research, contributing to academic publications, and providing student mentorship and academic support. Drawing on experience within the higher education sector, the incumbent contributes to creating an enriching and collaborative learning environment that promotes student success. The lecturer and module owner is accountable for the effective delivery of all teaching, assessment, curriculum coordination, and quality assurance responsibilities related to the assigned modules.

Effectively facilitate learning
● Design and develop high-quality learning resources.
● Facilitate engaging and purposeful learning.
● Model and manage discipline in learning environments.
● Create inclusive spaces for reflection and development.

Promote effective assessment practices
● Design and develop authentic, valid, and reliable assessments.
● Provide timely assessment feedback that supports deeper learning.
● Maintain and enhance academic integrity and quality standards.
● Regularly evaluate assessment practices for continuous improvement.

Promote effective curriculum coordination and ownership
● Safeguard institutional ownership and control of designated modules.
● Assist the HoD in recruitment and selection of relevant adjunct faculty.
● Provide appropriate orientation and support for adjunct faculty engaged in assigned modules.
● Monitor, evaluate, and provide regular feedback on the performance of assigned modules.

Promote scholarship and community engagement
● Participate in faculty and staff workshops and innovation forums.
● Research and share best practices to improve learning experiences.
● Align with TSIBA's values in all interactions.
● Develop community engagement activities to support teaching and research.

Requirements

Master's degree in accounting, finance, or economics (NQF level 9)

⬣ Minimum 5 years of practical accounting experience in a professional or industry environment
⬣ At least 3 years of prior teaching experience in accounting, finance, and/or economics up to NQF Level 7
⬣ Teaching qualification advantageous
⬣ Professional accounting designation (e.g. CA(SA), ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) advantageous
⬣ Experience teaching in blended learning environments is advantageous
⬣ An active research record is advantageous
