Main job purposes
To manage the toll plaza operations as per the contractual obligations ensuring the achievement of delivery and throughput targets are met, thereby contributing to customer satisfaction and the achievement of departmental and company objectives. The role also includes ensuring customer satisfaction and company policies and procedures are adhered to. In addition, to ensure toll revenue is correctly accounted for in terms of the financial procedures and is accurately banked.

Employment specification education and experience (minimum requirements to perform the job) post school:   
  • Minimum Grade 12 certificate
  • Applicable tertiary qualifications preferably in financial  management (advantageous)
  • Certificate of medical fitness
  • Valid EB/Code 08 driver’s license, 5 years’ experience in operating a motor vehicle
Experience:
  • At least 8 years’ experience in a management position
  • Experience in the Toll industry (advantageous)
Knowledgeable:         
  • Reporting process, plaza inspections and general housekeeping
  • Supervisory and management responsibilities/functions
  • Electronic toll collection system and the toll collection process

Essential duties and responsibilities

Safety and security
  • Assist with and/ or induct subcontractors in terms of the safety at the toll plaza and ensure relevant documentation are signed.
  • Ensure appropriate PPE is used and in good condition
  • Identify and report any SHE incident/accidents immediately as per the SHE system
  • Attend teams safety toolbox briefing / talk at the commencement of every shift and/ or specific/unique task
  • Monitor housekeeping and ensure HSE standards are
Plaza operations and reporting
  • Assess and evaluate the requirements of the plaza operations on an ongoing basis and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Ensure adequate security measures are implemented e. access control, money transfer, internal theft etc.
  • Ensure all cash handling and cash procedure are correctly applied and implemented to ensure maximum efficiency and security
  • Ensure all financial documentation, reports, budgets, registers, banking requirements are correctly applied.
  • Monitor and ensure vehicle throughput levels are efficient, recorded, and reported
  • Ensure maintenance buildings, surrounding areas, facilities, equipment, systems is carried out effectively this includes the cleanliness of the plaza.
  • Ensure requirements for the different traffic seasons are sufficient and relevant operational plans are in place.
  • Plan activities and coordinate resources to ensure the uninterrupted operations of the plaza 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • Review and submit monthly, quarterly and annual reports which includes, Finance, CMS, TCE, VTAS, OHS, and Inspection etc.
Human resource management
  • Conduct and/ or attend disciplinary enquiries, investigations, grievances, counselling sessions in line with the IR procedures as and when required.
  • Conduct performance development reviews and recommend potential candidates for possible future training and promotions.
