Junior Receipts Accounts Officer

Cape Union Mart’s finance team is seeking a dynamic and capable individual who thrives in both independent and team environments. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships across all levels.

Key responsibilities

Reconciliation and account management:
  • Reconcile daily store bank accounts and control accounts.
  • Follow up on discrepancies identified during reconciliation and take corrective actions.
  • Review daily cash deposits and petty cash transactions.
Customer and store support:
  • Address customer and store queries related to point-of-sale (POS) transactions.
  • Process customer refunds as needed.
  • Assist with staff-related debtor requirements.
Group operations and invoicing:
  • Operate across multiple legal entities, including entities outside South Africa.
  • Prepare and capture inter-group invoices.
Audit and reporting:
  • Assist with ad-hoc management and audit queries.
  • Prepare schedules for the annual audit.
Foreign transactions and stock management:
  • Assist with daily foreign transactions and reconcile foreign liabilities.
  • Check stock costing and prepare costing adjustments.
Other responsibilities:
  • Provide administrative support and superior customer service.
  • Assist with ad-hoc management queries.
Experience and qualifications

Essential:
  • Strong numerical skills.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (intermediate to advanced).
  • Effective time management and administration skills.
Advantageous:
  • A finance-related qualification or progress towards one.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in finance.
  • Previous exposure to an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.
