The IIE Varsity College, Nelson Mandela Bay Campus, has a vacancy for a part-time lecturer in computer science (programming) for the 2025 academic year.
Duties and responsibilities- Prepare and deliver lectures, engaging students in active learning based on module-specific requirements in line with module pacers
- Update the learning management system and provide feedback to students
- Engage and prepare students for formative and summative assessments, identify at-risk students, and monitor student engagement
- Attend and participate in all academic meetings and development workshops
- Complete a required number of academic professional development activities per academic cycle (one year) to contribute to the improvement of the brand's teaching and learning practices and your own professional academic development
Minimum education requirements- Honours degree in information systems or computer science
- Alternatively, honours in information systems, computer science, information technology, computing, engineering (with IT, data/telecommunications, or related modules), or a bachelor’s degree in a related field with third-year level modules, plus a postgraduate diploma in a related field or education
Minimum work experience requirements- One to two years of lecturing or tutoring experience would be advantageous
- One to three years of industry-specific experience in a specialisation area would also be advantageous
Working conditions- This is an independent contractor (part-time) position
- Classes are held face-to-face on campus from 08:20 to 16:40, Monday to Friday
- Working hours depend on the modules assigned
