He specialises all aspects of competition consumer protection laws.
Burton has advised and assisted a number of clients in cartel investigations and large merger proceedings before the Competition Tribunal and Competition Appeal Court. He also advises on general competition law and regulatory compliance, including competition law opinions, merger notifications in South Africa and various African jurisdictions, compliance training and implementing compliance programmes.
His experience in consumer law includes opinions, drafting and reviewing of agreements, drafting terms and conditions, promotional competitions, developing industry codes in terms of the applicable legislation, franchising advice and drafting and implementing of consumer law compliance manuals.
Burton also has experience in advising on procurement and supply chain management having completed a secondment as legal advisor to the South African Post Office where he gained invaluable experience in drafting and negotiating of procurement contracts.
Burton holds BCom (Economics and Law) (cum laude) and LLB degrees from the North-West University as well as a Certificate in Competition Law from the University of the Witwatersrand.
