Intern - Mechanical Engineer

Mechanical Engineer Internship – 12 months – amazing opportunity in the footwear industry. This role is ideal for a natural self-starter with a strong sense of urgency, who takes pride in maintaining a positive work ethic and excellent attention to detail. The incumbent will work closely with the maintenance team in the maintenance department, gain hands on experience in Mechanical Engineering.

Duties include the following, but not limited to:

Machinery

• Work closely with the maintenance team to ensure that machinery and equipment perform at optimum levels
• Attend to break downs and support troubleshooting in the factory in a timely manner, limiting the loss of production
• Conduct regular inspections and routine preventative maintenance initiatives
• Together with the team ensure that all engineering activities and machinery comply with health and safety standards
• Support the design and modification of machinery to meet production requirements

Process Improvement

• Continuously contribute to the ongoing improvement of the manufacturing process, i.e. identifying bottlenecks, increasing output, and reducing waste, through the efficient use of machinery
• Collect and analyse data related to production performance, machinery downtime, and process improvement, and make recommendations
• Assist with special projects as required

Requirements:

• Relevant qualification in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• Must be proactive and have a hands-on approach
• Excellent communication skills

Stipend: R7 000
