DKMS Africa held its annual Sunflower Day on 16 September outside St George's Cathedral in Cape Town to honour those who have lost their lives to blood cancer.

Sunflower Day raises funds and awareness for blood cancer patients by selling Tubes of Hope (Tope) at Pick n Pay stores nationwide.

DKMS handed out 510 sunflowers at St George's Cathedral to honour the 510 children who died of blood cancer in 2020.

Annually, 800-1,000 children are diagnosed with cancer. This activity provided hope for children with blood cancer and urged South Africans to register as blood stem cell donors to give these children a second chance at life.
