DTP Operator

Job description

We are looking for a DTP Operator to join our production team in Durban. The role involves the end-to-end preparation of artwork for print, signage and layouts including POS. This position is a technical role. You will need an understanding of and experience in print production, finishing, print set up as well as knowledge of the function of industry leading machinery.

You will also be focusing on technical accuracy, brand consistency, attention to details and the ability to work under pressure.

Candidates must demonstrate a disciplined approach to layout preparation and a commitment to delivering high-quality, error-free output within client-specific parameters.

Responsibilities

• A firm understanding of repro of all formats (eg. brochures, flyers, books, large and small format printing, etc)
• Setup/stepping up of artwork
• Prepare, format, and finalise artwork for production (Prepare print-ready files with correct sizes, margins, bleeds,
• colour profiles and resolutions)
• Work with images: resizing, retouching, and colour correction
• Quality-check final artwork for production
• Colour management and accuracy
• Basic proofreading skills
• Ensure all work meets technical production specifications
• Maintain consistency in quality of work
• Work together with designers, managers, and production teams
• Manage workflow efficiently to meet tight deadlines and multiple deliverables
• Maintain proper file organization and backups

The salary is market-related and is dependent on candidate’s level of experience.

Requirements

• 2+ years of proven experience as a DTP Operator in the industry
• Diploma or certificate in Graphic Design, DTP, or related field
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite - specifically Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat. Advantageous: InDesign
• Knowledge of Mac and Windows
• Extensive experience of print production processes, standards and parameters
• Extensive experience of print production related machinery
• Strong understanding and experience of fabrication, laser, die-cut, pad and required industry machinery
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
• The ability to work under pressure and to work extended hours if required
• Strong time management and communication skills
• A portfolio showcasing DTP or artwork preparation work
