The senior general manager (SGM) holds full operational and commercial responsibility for Grand Style Hiring. This is a senior leadership role, requiring a highly capable, commercially minded individual who can stabilise, professionalise, and grow the business.
The SGM will act as the day-to-day decision-maker, overseeing people, systems, finances, sales, and operations, while working closely with the owner. This role is suited to someone who can run the business as if it were their own, with accountability for profitability and performance.
This role is suited to a senior, results-driven leader who is serious about running and growing a business. It is not a junior or supervisory position. The successful candidate will play a critical role in rebuilding, stabilising, and scaling Grand Style Hiring alongside the owner.
Key responsibilities – detailed scope1. Operations and team leadership
- Oversee all daily operations including warehouse, logistics, deliveries, collections, admin, and event setups.
- Lead and manage all staff: drivers, warehouse staff, admin, sales assistants, and freelancers where applicable.
- Define clear roles, responsibilities, and performance expectations for each team member.
- Conduct structured performance reviews, manage underperformance, and implement corrective action when required.
- Manage staff scheduling, leave planning, overtime, and workflow systems.
- Ensure company assets (stock, vehicles, equipment) are managed correctly and losses are minimised.
- Maintain discipline, professionalism, and a results-driven company culture.

2. Financial performance, sales and profitability
- Take full ownership of monthly revenue targets, expenses, and profitability.
- Analyse sales performance and identify gaps, inefficiencies, and growth opportunities.
- Actively drive new sales across corporate clients, venues, hotels, event planners, weddings, and long-term contracts.
- Ensure all quotes are strategically priced, profitable, and aligned with company margins.
- Closely monitor expenses and implement cost controls without compromising service delivery.
- Review monthly income vs expenses and report directly to the owner with clear insights and action plans.
Outcome Expected: Consistent monthly profitability, controlled costs, and sustainable revenue growth.
3. Long-term client growth
- Identify and secure long-term, repeat clients (venues, hotels, corporates, planners, hospitality partners).
- Build strong professional relationships that convert into recurring business.
- Negotiate and manage long-term agreements where possible.
- Ensure exceptional service delivery to retain clients.
- Represent the company professionally in meetings, site visits, and negotiations.

4. Marketing oversight
- Oversee marketing initiatives with a focus on lead generation and conversion.
- Ensure social media platforms are active, professional, and brand-aligned.
- Plan seasonal campaigns, promotions, and product highlights.
- Hold team members accountable for marketing output and results.
- Monitor enquiries, engagement, and conversion metrics.

5. Systems, structure and process improvement
• Review existing systems and identify inefficiencies.
• Improve and streamline processes including:
- Quoting and invoicing
- Stock control
- Delivery and collection tracking
- Staff accountability
- Client communication
• Implement practical systems that reduce losses, errors, and wasted time.
• Introduce scalable structures to support business growth.

- Salary: Basic salary - depending on experience and capability.

Requirements – Non-negotiable1. Senior management experience
- Minimum 5–7 years’ experience in a senior management or leadership role (General Manager / Operations Manager / Business Manager level).
- Proven responsibility for operations, people management, and financial performance.
- Experience working directly with business owners or directors.
2. Financial and commercial acumen (Critical Requirement)
- Proven ability to analyse management accounts, income vs expenses, and cash flow.
- Strong understanding of pricing, margins, discounts, and cost control.
- Demonstrated experience implementing cost-saving measures and improving profitability.
- Comfortable with budgeting, forecasting, and monthly financial reviews.
3. Leadership and decision-making
- Confident, decisive leader capable of managing teams and making independent decisions.
- Strong communicator with the ability to motivate, discipline, and lead by example.
- Accountable for results and outcomes.
4. Education and licensing
- Matric (minimum requirement).
- Valid drivers licence.
5. Industry experience (Advantage)
- Experience in events, hiring, hospitality, logistics, or a deadline-driven service industry is advantageous.
- Ability to perform under pressure during peak seasons and large-scale events.
