The External Sales Representative will be responsible for servicing existing customers while sourcing and securing new business within the timber and board industry. The role requires a proactive, driven individual with strong sales skills, the ability to build long-lasting customer relationships, and deliver consistent results.

Key responsibilities:
  • Service existing customers and maintain strong relationships.
  • Source new business and expand the customer base.
  • Report to the office
  • Achieve personal sales targets and budgets.
  • Negotiate prices, prepare quotations, and address client queries effectively.
  • Promote and sell products to new and existing clients.
  • Ensure orders are processed and delivered according to client requirements.
  • Collect CODs, cheques, and follow up on outstanding payments.
  • Keep customer pricing profiles and records updated.
  • Complete daily call sheets and maintain accurate sales reporting.
  • Liaise with debtors/admin regarding outstanding accounts.
  • Stay informed of competitor activity and market conditions.
  • Attend bi-monthly sales meetings and daily one-on-one sessions with Sales Director.
  • Assist with quarterly stock takes and ad-hoc tasks as required.

Qualifications and skills:
Qualifications:
  • Matric certificate (Grade 12) essential.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • At least 3 years’ experience as an external sales representative.
  • Experience in the timber and board industry is essential.
  • English & Afrikaans speaking (bilingual).
