Support Data Engineer

A leading financial institution committed to innovation, integrity, and impact. As they expand their data-driven decision-making capabilities, they are seeking a Support Data Engineer to join their growing team. This role is essential to ensuring the smooth operation, performance, and reliability of data infrastructure and platforms.

Responsibilities:

• Monitor and maintain data pipelines, ETL workflows, and data integration systems
• Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues in a timely manner
• Collaborate with Data Engineers, Analysts, and DevOps to ensure data availability and integrity
• Provide technical support for batch jobs and real-time data streaming
• Assist in improving data reliability, efficiency, and quality
• Document support processes and contribute to knowledge sharing across teams

Experience and qualifications:

• 3 years’ experience in a Data Engineering, DataOps, or Technical Support role
• Solid understanding of SQL and data warehousing concepts
• Familiarity with data pipeline tools (e.g., Apache Airflow, DBT, Informatica)
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
• Experience in the financial industry or working with financial datasets (advantageous)
• Python or Shell scripting experience
• Familiarity with data governance and compliance requirements (e.g., GDPR, SOX)

The reference number for this position is NG60437 which is a permanent Hybrid position based in Johannesburg offering a cost to company of R450k up to R650k per annum negotiable on experience and ability.
