The Zinto Marketing Group (Zinto), a brand activation agency in Linbro Park, Sandton, was chosen as the 2016 Business of the Year Gold Winner in the Large Business category. The award seeks to identify and acknowledge businesses who have achieved success and who truly embody the spirit of innovativeness.
At the helm of the company is founder Michelle Combrinck, a multilingual businesswoman who is recognised as one of the most influential women in business. She was awarded the Business Woman of the Year 2016 Silver Award that celebrates the achievements of outstanding women in business in South Africa. The award recognises the contribution of South African women across various corporate business industry sectors and within government, throughout the country of which Combrinck is one remarkable contributor to the development and employment of the youth.
Zinto began as a small promotions company offering in-store and eKasi activations at grassroots level, and in the past decade Zinto has developed into a fully-fledged below-the-line agency specialising in branded entertainment, main market activations, school roadshows, CSI campaigns, talent management, sound and video production as well as staging and set design employing young, raw talent from the hundreds of applicants from the ‘new’ suburbs.
This wise and savvy ex-educator who is fluent in Xhosa, no longer talks about marketing but sees a bigger picture and carries a far larger concern of the future of this country and how corporates can play a role in developing the unemployed youth and how to get them off the street into employment.
As an entrepreneur and market leader, Combrinck understands the need to re-engineer the individual in order to sustain growth. She is passionate about exposing the unsung heroes – the youth ‒ in our country who she says are achieving incredible results. She has guided many of those in her employ to become entrepreneurs by taking their talent and turning it into a business proposition.
Combrinck wants to encourage women to lead the way and inspire both the business community and the general public to drive strong values, active citizenry and social cohesion and establish mutually beneficial relationships.
CEO of Zinto, Logan Gengan said, “Combrinck's accomplishments are an inspiration to us and she is a role model for other businesswomen.”
