Cape Town's favourite agency moves under one roof for first time

FCB South Africa (Cape Town), Cape Town's largest marketing communications group, celebrated the end of the year with all its entities under one roof for the first time in its close to 70-year history.

Previously the group operated out of two separate buildings, one in Wynberg and the other in Camps Bay. The move to Rondebosch in October brought all its services together under one roof for the first time and, to celebrate the occasion as well as mark the end of a successful business year, it held a rip-roaring roof-wetting-cum-end-of-year party for staff, clients and suppliers.

Eric Lindsay Smithers, founder of the Johannesburg-based agency (Lindsay Smithers) that eventually became FCB South Africa, opened the Cape Town office in the 1930s. One of the major brands it picked up during that era was Limousin Brandy, via the then Distillers Corporation.

Today, the Group's relationships with Distell, media24 (previously Nasionale Tydskrifte), Elizabeth Arden and AJ North count among the longest standing partnerships in the industry. More recently FCB has added Shoprite, Santam, Momentum and M-Web to its already impressive client list.

FCB South Africa offers the full spectrum of marketing communication solutions including advertising, retail advertising, experiential marketing, event management, corporate identity and packaging design, customer relationship management, web development, investor relations, financial advertising, recruitment advertising and corporate and brand public relations.

According to FCB South Africa group chief operating officer, Andries Breytenbach, it is due to the group's strong and diverse client base, a proven track record and its integrated communications model that it had grown considerably over the past 24 months to buck the downward local industry trend and earn itself the title of South Africa's Finance Week 'Intermediate Agency of the Year'.

"It was wonderful to be able to celebrate our success with our staff, clients and suppliers in our new building," he said.
