Draftfcb Johannesburg creatives Lawrence Katz and Olivia Tesson have won an international ad of the month award - the Professional YoungGun of the Month, for June 2008 - for their Ultraoptec Extinct campaign.
Draftfcb Johannesburg creatives win international ‘Ad of the Month' award

The first international advertising award for creatives and students under the age of 30, YoungGuns was created in 2000 by Jason Williams, Kristian Barnes and Michael Kean. Its core purpose is simply to recognise and promote upcoming talent, the very future of advertising, not reward years of experience as the other established award shows do.

There are YoungGun two categories - the ‘professional' category for creatives already employed in the industry, as well as a student category. The YoungGun of the Month is a new initiative, which launched in May this year making the June award only the second made worldwide.

Congratulating Katz and Tesson on the award, Draftfcb South Africa Group Executive Creative Director, Ashley Bacon, said: “This is no small achievement - Olivia and Lawrence have beaten the best in the world to this accolade. And we're very, very proud to have them as part of our team at Draftfcb Johannesburg.

“Anyone who's worked closely with this team, as I have had the pleasure of doing, will vouch for their passion and consistent push to do produce brave work. Ollie and Larry we salute you.”
