Oasys strengthens operational talent

The management of Oasys Innovations announced the appointment of Geoffrey Asman as its new Group Operations Manager responsible for all activation companies as a single entity in terms of operational performance.
Oasys strengthens operational talent

Making the announcement managing director Kevin Kennedy said: “The integration of all the processes of our activation companies into one seamless operation is paramount to our success locally and in international markets.”

With a qualification in mechanical technology, Asman has 15 years experience in the automobile industry, highway vehicle monitoring and pay systems, courier as well as vehicle quality management sectors. He worked with brands such as Toyota and Hyundai where he was primarily responsible for quality assurance and customer service. Asman then joined NT Express worldwide, a parcel and freight forwarding company where he was responsible for national operations including the SADC region. His portfolio included the optimization of fleet and warehouse management and logistics.

The expansion of our highway infrastructure presented new challenges and Asman joined PT Operational Services responsible for 23 toll plazas spread across 388 kilometers of highways. Asman was responsible for 400 employees in a cash sensitive 24 hour industry where staff had to be shuttled to and from work, much attention was given to life skills training. He then joined the Automobile Association where he was in charge of 35 technical test centres. His last assignment at the Automobile Association was to run the Technical Division.

Asman says that his former experience prior to joining Oasys taught him strategic issues around leadership and people management. “You have to motivate people in order for them to become part of the buy-in process. To be a manager is not good enough. Employees want leaders to take them to the next level of performance and success. Every position I held in my career had a strong component around quality and that is what I will take forward into the Oasys workplace. I will be optimizing the integration processes and drill out efficiencies that will be to the benefit of the employer, the employees and our loyal customers.”

Asman says that although the exhibition and event industry has a different dynamic because of daily challenges which require you to think on your feet all the time, it ultimately boils down to superior customer service as in any other industry. The Oasys Innovations environment is exciting as it is forever changing to accommodate the requirements of a large and very varied customer base.”
