Cohsasa accredits the Bank Hospital in Ghana
The Bank Hospital in Accra, Ghana, has received a two-year accreditation award from Cohsasa (The Council for Health Service Accreditation of Southern Africa) following an external survey in December 2023. This is the second facility in Ghana to be awarded accreditation by Cohsasa. South African health accrediting body is internationally accredited
As the only one of its kind in sub-Saharan Africa, the Council for Health Service Accreditation of Southern Africa NPC (Cohsasa) which assesses and accredits a range of healthcare facilities throughout the continent is pleased to announce that it has achieved international accreditation until December 2027. This follows a comprehensive survey by the International Society for Quality in Health Care External Evaluation Association (ISQua EEA) in September last year and not only validates Cohsasa as an organisation, but also endorses the second edition of its Health Facility Standards for Inpatient and Ambulatory Care and its Surveyor Training Programme. 18 Jan 2024 Read more

Mediclinic Cape Gate notches up another quality award
There were celebrations recently when CEO of Cohsasa, Jacqui Stewart, presented a four-year accreditation certificate to Mediclinic Cape Gate. It was the fourth time that this 164-bed multi-specialist hospital in Brackenfell in the northern suburbs of Cape Town had been accredited. Mediclinic Louis Leipoldt is accredited a 7th time
Unit heads of Mediclinic Louis Leipoldt in Bellville gathered this week to receive a seventh accreditation certificate from Cohsasa. Latest accreditations awarded by Cohsasa (NPC)
The Selebi-Phikwe Government Hospital, located in the Central District of Botswana has been accredited for a second time for two years. Its first accreditation was from 2019 to 2021. International academy honours Stellenbosch academic
The most prestigious academy in the field of quality and safety in patient care, The ISQua Academy of Quality and Safety in Health Care (IAQS), has welcomed two new members from Africa - Ethelwynn Stellenberg, emeritus associate professor: Department of Nursing and Midwifery at Stellenbosch University and national chairperson of the South African Medico-Legal Association. Mediclinic Vergelegen shines in the quality stakes
Mediclinic Vergelegen is setting a pace for quality improvement, patient safety, and accreditation in Somerset West in the Western Cape. The hospital was handed its second four-year accreditation certificate by the CEO of Cohsasa, Jacqui Stewart, this week. This is the hospital's seventh accreditation award since receiving its first one in 1996. Staff at Cure Day Hospitals Bellville gathered in the foyer in front of a colourful painting this week to celebrate receipt of their three-year accreditation certificate from the CEO of Cohsasa, Jacqui Stewart. Mediclinic Paarl embraces quality improvement
The hospital general manager and head of units and quality teams assembled in the conference room of Mediclinic Paarl this week to receive an accreditation certificate from Cohsasa CEO, Jacqui Stewart. This hospital has been in the Cohsasa programme since November 1996 and has received seven subsequent accreditation awards.
