Job descriptionOur client is seeking an experienced Software Asset Manager to lead software asset governance across an enterprise IT environment. This role focuses on ensuring accurate inventories, license compliance, and cost optimisation, while supporting audit readiness and informed procurement decisions. It’s ideal for someone who enjoys analytical work, cross-functional collaboration, and driving measurable financial impact. What You'll Be Doing- Own and maintain software asset management (SAM) policies, standards, and processes.
- Manage software license compliance, including interpreting agreements, assessing risk, and supporting audits.
- Maintain a trusted software inventory across on-prem, virtual, and cloud environments.
- Analyse software usage to identify optimisation, cost-saving, and licence reclamation opportunities.
- Support procurement, renewals, and contract negotiations with accurate usage and forecasting data.
- Oversee the end-to-end software lifecycle, from request and deployment to renewal and retirement.
- Act as a key stakeholder for SAM tools and drive automation and data accuracy improvements.
- Produce clear reporting on compliance, costs, renewals, and optimisation initiatives.
- Partner with IT, finance, procurement, and security teams to ensure governance and regulatory alignment.
Requirements - Bachelor’s degree in IT, Information Systems, Business, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Software Asset Management or IT Asset Management - preferably in the retail sector.
- Strong knowledge of enterprise software licensing models and compliance management.
- Experience managing audits and reducing licensing and financial risk.
- Hands-on experience with SAM tools (ServiceNow SAM or similar).
- Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to influence and communicate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
- Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, global environment.
- Vendor-specific licensing or SAM tool training.
- Fluent in English (written and spoken); German, French, or Polish would be advantageous.
- Certifications such as Certified Software Asset Manager (CSAM), ISO 19770, or ITIL (desirable).
- Ability to work remotely with own work-from-home setup.
