We are expanding our finance team and seeking a highly skilled and Professional Accountant to support the Chief Financial Officer in driving operational excellence, financial control, and long-term growth.
The roleThis is not a conventional accounting position. We are looking for a strategic thinker with sharp attention to detail and the ability to perform in a high-pressure, deadline-driven environment. You will support the CFO across critical financial tasks, funding operations, and team management, while also helping implement structure and systems that elevate the firm’s financial performance and operational efficiency.
Key responsibilitiesDuties- Process and oversee financial transactions including accounts payable and receivable.
- Maintain accurate records of financial transactions in compliance with company policies.
- Prepare and perform detailed monthly reconciliations and ensure the integrity of all financial records.
- Coordinate audit preparation and manage any necessary documentation.
- Ensure adherence to financial controls and accounting standards.
- Handling general accounting functions and ad hoc tasks as required by management.
- Assist in planning and executing the firm’s financial strategy, aligning with business growth objectives.
- Assist the CFO in preparation of financial statements, budgets, and management reports.
- Identify opportunities to improve internal controls and financial processes.
Leadership- Provide direction and oversight to junior finance staff to uplift standards, accountability, and productivity.
- Foster a culture of professionalism, ownership, and continuous improvement.
Additional responsibilities- Assist with high-level ad hoc financial projects, analysis, and reporting as directed by the CFO or executive team.
- Navigate complex and dynamic financial environments with urgency and precision.
Qualifications and skills- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. SAIPA or equivalent qualification is strongly preferred.
- Minimum three years’ experience in accounting, ideally in a professional services or corporate environment.
- Proven success working in high-pressure, fast-paced roles requiring critical thinking and quick turnarounds.
- Advanced Excel and strong financial modeling skills.
- Deep understanding of South African accounting and tax regulations.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Highly detail-oriented with the ability to manage competing priorities with accuracy and professionalism.
