The agreement covers the Springboks, Springbok Women, Junior Springboks, Springbok Sevens and Springbok Women Sevens, along with the Vodacom URC. It took effect in September for the Vodacom URC and in October for the Springboks and runs for two years.

The partnership links Samsung’s Galaxy ecosystem with fan engagement across South African rugby. Justin Hume, vice president of mobile experience at Samsung South Africa, said the collaboration strengthens how supporters capture, share and interact with the game using Galaxy devices and Galaxy AI. He noted that both organisations share a focus on performance, development and long-term improvement.

Samsung said the partnership reflects its commitment to using Galaxy AI to enhance how supporters connect with teams on and off the field. The company added that its open ecosystem improves accessibility for fans watching in the stadium or at home while aligning with Samsung’s investment priorities in South Africa.

SA Rugby CEO Rian Oberholzer said the partnership delivers strategic value for the organisation and will support both performance and administration. He said access to Samsung technology will improve training facilities and communication, adding that Samsung is regarded as a technology partner rather than a traditional sponsor.

United Rugby Championship CEO Martin Anayi said the partnership will support the continued growth of the competition in South Africa. He highlighted the impact South African teams have had on competitive depth and global interest and said Samsung’s involvement will help strengthen the fan experience and the Vodacom URC’s local profile.
