Celebrities, pizza raise funds for guide dogs

Roman's Pizza and M-Net's All Access have come together to raise funds for the South African Guide Dog Association. A few celebrities and All Access presenters, Jena Dover and Shashi Naidoo, amongst others, will be serving pizza to the public in Roman's Pizza stores nationwide from 7-9pm on specific days in September and a percentage of the day's sales will be doubled by Roman's Pizza head office and then handed over to the South African Guide Dog Association.

It is an initiative to raise awareness of the need for funds for the Guide Dog Association.

Jaco Loubser, executive producer of All Access, says that the fundraising partnership intends not only to raise much-needed funds, but also to raise awareness of the exceptional work done by the South African Guide Dog Association. "The company has supported the wonderful work done by the association for some time, and this is simply the next step in spreading not only the word, but the potential to generate funds that will enable more visually challenged South Africans."

Roman's Pizza managing director John Nicolakakis agrees, emphasising the need for South African business to become more involved. "In some instances it is important not only to share in one's success, but also to involve our customers in making a contribution, while simultaneously generating awareness of specific needs within our communities. The partnership with All Access, in support of the South African Guide Dog Association, is one of several community programmes we engage in."

Nicolakakis says that should the initiative be successful, Roman's Pizza would like to establish it as an annual exercise.
